Anyone who has been shaving their legs for a while knows how annoying it can be. You can get itchy rashes and painful bumps, and it’s so easy to nick your ankles! Ouch!
What are the best ways to keep your legs feeling silky and smooth when summer rolls around and it’s time to get rid of any unwanted leg hair?
We have some advice to help you reduce bumps and cuts so you can shave your legs with ease and without worry. Keep reading for a few of our favorite tips for shaving leg hair.
1. Consider Conditioner (Trust Us)
Have you found that normal shaving creams aren’t working for you? You’re not alone. Many people are tired of over-priced and over-scented shaving creams and gels that don’t stop you from harming yourself.
Have you considered some conditioner as an alternative?
Affordable conditioners, even the most basic ones, can provide a good barrier on your skin and soften your hair and legs. Try it next time you’re in the shower!
2. Use Sharp and Fresh Razors
Be honest: how often do you switch out your razors?
If you’re like most people, the answer is “not often enough”. We get it. It’s easy to forget and sometimes when you’re in a hurry it doesn’t seem like a priority. It’s important to use sharp razors, though, to avoid any unnecessary injury.
We suggest using men’s’ razors if you find that women’s razors aren’t cutting it for you. They tend to be cheaper when you’re using the disposable options and there’s more of a variety to choose from. You won’t miss the girly colors, we promise.
3. Exfoliate First
Are your legs soft and smooth (aside from the hair) before you get started? When you have dry and rough skin or small bumps, you’re bound to nick yourself with the razor when you shave!
Before you get started, try a DIY scrub to pamper yourself and get your legs ready to shave. You’ll have softer skin that the razor can glide over without a problem.
4. Take Your Time
Don’t make your shaving a last-minute event. If you’re running late, skip it. Going too quickly is bound to result in cuts and razor burns.
If you’re new to shaving, sit down on the side of the tub and shave with full attention to detail. Not only will this result in a cleaner and more thorough shave, but you’ll also avoid any mishaps.
5. Consider Other Options
If you have very sensitive skin, you might find that shaving doesn’t work for you no matter how many tips and tricks you’ve tried.
There are other options.
You can get laser hair removal, but this is going to be expensive. While you’re saving up, you could try messy hair removal creams or some of the best epilators on the market.
This can be a trial-and-error process, but it may lead to the smooth legs you’re looking for!
Shaving Your Legs Doesn’t Have to Be Painful!
Shaving your legs is easy when you know how to do it right. Those razor burns and cuts can be things of the past when you exfoliate, use the right skin barrier, and take your time.
If all else fails, try another hair removal method (or grow your leg hair with pride, we don’t judge).
