My ultimate favourite mascara is the Benefit They’re Real Mascara. I use this daily. Regardless of whether I wear makeup or not, this is always a firm favourite. When I received it, I really wanted to do a Benefit They’re Real Mascara Review.
The hype for this mascara before release was huge, I can still remember seeing it spoken about everywhere. The claims, the benefits and how this would be a different mascara than the first. Which I still am not very keen on, sorry but ‘Bad Gal Lash’ wasn’t one for me.
Benefit make such beautiful makeup and as soon as this was released, I purchased it. I didn’t even wait for reviews, Benefit They’re Real Mascara Review I ordered it there and then.
I felt like I really needed this mascara and I was so right.
I will talk about the mascara, the claims and how I found it.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara – The Release
I am talking about the release because they ploughed a lot into the marketing for this. I don’t really recall seeing it much on YouTube until after the release and everyone and their dog reviewed it. As I watched a Benefit They’re Real Mascara review, I decided there and then I wanted it when it launched.
Even now I still see this mentioned across beauty groups and YouTube as a firm favourite and I can see why.
Now there is a whole range of products with an eyelash primer (Which is the bomb by the way) and lipsticks. I am not a lipstick fan so have not tried them. Maybe one day when I am back to being a lipstick lover.
Anyway – All over the beauty sphere, regardless of platform, this was mentioned as the holy grail. Each review, each mention had me nodding my head and agreeing out loud. (My other half must think I am mental – I do this often)
Now the claims are:
- Long-wearing
- Maximum length and volume
- Jet black formula
- Brush designed to reveal those pesky hidden lashes

Benefit They’re Real Mascara – The Packaging
I love a good package. I really do. If it is eye-catching then I am more tempted to purchase. This was one of the reasons I really wanted to purchase the Benefit They’re Real Mascara.
Now the packaging of the Benefit They’re Real mascara is in a gunmetal grey type colour, it’s easy to hold and open.
Inside is a wonderful wand that is my favourite. A firmer type wand which I like but the bristles are short and medium-length to give maximum coverage to your lashes.
At the end is a slight ball-shaped tip which is perfect getting into those small corners. This helps define and separate your lashes as well as giving volume and length.
Not really much you can say about mascara packaging. So let’s get right into the review.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara – The Review
Application is swift and easy, this is a thicker formula than the Roller Lash mascara.
Now the reason I think this is thicker as this is more for volume and volume it does give.
The wand right away separated my lashes perfectly, coating each one in the darkest formula I have ever tried. Darker than my heart. How I like my mascara.
So the claims of reaching all those hidden lashes are right. At the very inner corner, I had lashes! They were so light I had never really noticed them before.
The wand on the Benefit They’re Real Mascara allowed me to also reach the outer corner lashes easily enough.
I didn’t find that my lashes curled much alone, but I could manipulate my lashes to curl and that curl lasted all day long.
A very dark mascara that even shows on the lightest lashes that I have!
Was this an all day long wear? Yes, it certainly is! I wouldn’t say this is waterproof as occasionally if my eyes watered, it would transfer slightly. That is the only downfall of this mascara.
I have worn this on a bare face with just skincare, BB/CC creams, foundation and it doesn’t transfer on an average day unless my eyes water for whatever reason.
Okay so after application, my lashes look thicker, fuller and longer. Usually, my lashes are barely there as I have quite small looking lashes and the tips of my lashes are light. So they look shorter than they really are.
With using the Benefit They’re Real mascara they did look longer and more fuller. Just what I wanted.
Benefit They’re Real Mascara – The Aftermath
As I kept using this mascara, I would fall more and more into love with the mascara.
A daily requirement regardless of wearing other makeup – I wear this mascara all the time.
I feel confident with it on and love how beautiful my lashes are.
I have tried and tested many mascaras and none have come close to this little gem and I can totally see why this has won so many awards. This truly is an award-winning mascara and I love it.
One day, maybe I will find a mascara I love more but right now, I haven’t found one. Even from Benefit.
Benefit is a brand I really love, especially the mascara and blush they have brought out.
