Bang on 6pm I was on Beauty Bay with the pages all open for the items I wanted, I was so excited and couldn’t wait for the release. Just so I could do my Jeffree Star Jawbreaker Palette Review.
I had Weirdo already added to my basket, but as soon as it hit 6pm, I had all 3 items added that I wanted. The Jawbreaker palette, the Mini Breaker palette and then the Cucumber and Mint Velour Lip Scrub. Of course, for faster shipping, I had to purchase from BeautyBay.
The last few weeks all I have seen is videos, posts and chats about this wonderful palette. I really wanted a palette with colour, but the bright palettes were not for me. I wanted a palette exactly like this. So you can see why I was anxious about buying it and waiting.
The next morning at 10am – The items arrived! Straight away I got in to Instagram and got the picture up of the 2 palettes.
Now I am going to get into the review? Are you ready? I know I am!
Jeffree Star Jawbreaker Palette Review
About The Packaging
Arriving in a white, cardboard box with Jaw Breaker along the top in pink metallic lettering. A light pink Jeffree Star logo that looks broken up, like splattered paint. Then all over the white box is splats of colour, exactly like a Jaw Breaker.
Now I quite like the box so I will be keeping this. Jeffree Star does bring out some wonderful packaging, I can’t lie.
Inside there is a medium pink metallic palette with a darker pink, splattered logo and Jaw Breaker across the top in white and green. Of course, there are splats of paint to make it look like a Jaw Breaker.
The splats of paint are slightly raised and feel textured, which is really pretty!
Opened and inside, there is a mirror with the same metallic pink background with splats of paint. There is also 2 Jeffree Star logos either side.
The eye shadows are sat in a white palette which really sets off the look.
I have to admit, that I really do enjoy the packaging and think it really suits the theme.
With the last releases such as the blood palettes and Alien palette, the design is pretty standard when it comes to the shape of the packaging. However, I feel this looks fantastic and couldn’t complain. Really suits the palette.
About The Shades
There is 24 shades in this palette, so the highest amount of shades in one palette yet. I do like that the range is so varied and you can choose different looks to suit your needs.
Now this palette consists of 17 matte finish shades, 5 metallic finish shades, 1 shimmer finish shade and 1 glitter finish shade.
I have listed all the shades below and given my thoughts of the formula and also the shade.
Virgin
Bone off white shade that is a matte formula.
What I enjoy about this shade is how it really suits my skin tone so well. This is used more so as a base and used to blend with other shades if I need to tone them down a bit.
A slightly chalky formula, but all very light shades have been the same for me.
Good Morning
Very soft, pale pink with a flesh look to it.
Again, I love to use this as a base with being so light, I use this up to my brow bone when creating pink styled looks.
A very smooth, matte formula that applies really well and blends perfectly.
Bubblegum
Bubblegum pink in a matte finish.
Another beautiful shade here, this pink can be used as a subtle shade or build up for a brighter look.
Yet another very smooth, matte shade that blends super lovely.
Wow
A bright, neon yellow in a matte shade.
You can again use this very lightly or you can pile this on for super vibrancy. I like this both blended our and layered, depending on what look I am going for.
Smooth, blendable and packs on super well.
Suck
Vibrant orange on the deeper hue in a matte finish.
What I love about this shade is how bright it is and super vivid! Again this can be blended out to be a paler hue, or packed on for a vibrant look.
Yet again, I had no issues with blending and using this shade.
Licorice
Pure red on the slightly deeper end in a matte finish.
I know we have reds for the Blood Sugar, but it was missing a red like this. I am glad I finally have one! You can either have this looking blended, or pack on for a richer colour.
Took no work blending this but did have to apply more colour to keep the vibrancy whilst blending.
Cute
Lighter shade of teal in a matte finish.
I do adore the team shades and this would work so well with the Blue Blood palette and the green and blue shades in there.
Blends like a dream and looks super beautiful on. Can be used as a transition shade, or all over for a pop of pale colour.
Fuck
Coral/pink bright shade in a matte finish.
I wondered when we would see Fuck as a name for a shadow. I really love this shade and felt I could do a lot with it. Blended out, it is really subtle and can be built up for colour pay off.
Super blendable and looks beautiful on. Really lovely matte shade.
Gum Drop
Lilac shade again in a matte finish.
I really do love the colour lilac and think this is the perfect shade for my less vibrant looks when I fancy wearing something different.
Blends really well yet again and had no issues working with it.
Snack
A cute, light peach/pink with a glitter finish.
Although this is has a glitter finish, it isn’t chunky at all and lays on so smoothly.
A very lovely formula for a glitter shade, the colour remains but has that wonderful shimmer to it.
Brain Freeze
Powder baby blue in a matte finish.
I adore this shade so much, this can be blended our to a paler blue or can be layered for a beautiful powdered baby blue shade.
Lovely matte formula, super easy to blend.
Jawbreaker
A reflective, yellow based white shimmer shade.
This reminds me so much of the highlighters with a smoother formula. You can highlight with this or use it in corner of eyes. Even layer over shades as the colour still comes through.
I really like the formula for this shimmer, it works well and stays put all day.
And What?
Pink based red shade with a metallic finish.
Again, this was missing from the Blood Sugar palette and this would be perfect to pair with this palette. I love using this all over my lid when going for a darker red look.
Applies really well and stays put once on. No patchiness.
Orange Juice
A true orange with a metallic finish.
What I was lacking in my collection was an orange shimmer and this is perfect to create some really fun looks with.
Applies really easily and looks super on!
Sour
Light apple green in a matte finish.
I don’t tend to wear green much, however this shade is really beautiful and looks beautiful when wearing.
Blends wonderfully, looks beautiful once on. A shade to be careful with using other shades as can muddy up a little.
Soaked
Cobalt blue in a matte finish.
This was totally missing from the Blue Blood palette and glad this shade was included so I can now wear this with the palette.
Blends super well, going for a lighter blue and can be layered for a more contrast look.
Raspberry
A rich maroon shade in a matte finish.
Now with this particular shade you do need to work on it a bit as it can look patchy. However after some blending, it looks beautiful.
A lovely matte shade that can be blended or build up.
Cotton Candy
Bright pink with a metallic finish.
Absolutely love that there is a bright pink metallic shade, this applies so beautifully and lasts all day.
Beautiful metallic that looks stunning on.
Lemon Drop
Yellow with a metallic finish.
This palette does deserve a beautiful, metallic yellow and this is just that. A true yellow shade that doesn’t look gold. Strong yellow with a metallic look to it.
Applies so well and looks beautiful once applied.
Bite Me
Rich and dark purple in a metallic finish.
One shade I am unable to locate anywhere is a true purple in a metallic finish. I love dark shades sometimes and love how I can make so many looks with this.
Application is perfect, no patching and look glorious on.
Cherry Wet
Lovely fuschia red in a matte finish.
I do really like the lipstick cherry wet and glad to see a shade that matches it. You can blend this out for a less stark colour, or build up for that perfect shade. Even pop a bit of shimmer over for a wonderful look.
Applies really well and looks beautiful on.
Tasty
A cool brown in a matte finish.
I don’t have a brown like this, this is the perfect brown for me. Blends wonderfully and can be used to darken the crease.
Super blendable and doesn’t look patchy.
Cone
Champagne nude in a matte finish.
This is more on the peachy side and can use this as a transition shade. I like it and can make some beautiful looks with it.
Buttery, blends well and looks wonderful on.
Delicious
Dark navy with a matte finish.
I would have liked to see this shade in the Blue Blood palette so I am glad this is in there.
Blends so well and can be blended out for a lighter shade, or built up for that super dark look.
About the formula
I have to admit, I really like the formula of these shadows. They all blend and apply really well apart from the odd one that takes a smidge of work.
You can create so many looks with this palette and can use other palettes alongside as it has key shades missing from the Blue Blood or Blood Sugar palettes,
Admittedly, you won’t find a palette like this unless you create your own.
Final thoughts
Overall, I really love this palette and can make so many beautiful looks with it. From light to dark, whatever your preference is.
The packaging is beautiful and really suits the concept well.
Literally contains most colours and plenty of mattes to accentuate any look.
The cost was high, but for 28 shadows and large-sized pans, you really get your money’s worth here!
