If you have hooded eyes, you will know just how much more difficult it can be not only to actually apply makeup, but to get your eyes looking just the way you want them to. It can be a struggle to do your favorite smokey-eyed look or prevent creases from appearing by lunchtime, right? It can be so frustrating that many people with hooded eyes or lower hanging lids often consider going to an adult oculoplastic surgeon just to try and resolve these issues! Well, you know what? Although it can be difficult, you can have great eyes with the right makeup tricks, Here’s how:
Lift off and light up
Okay, so when you have hooded eyes, it can be difficult to make them look as big and bright as you would like. One thing that really helps is curling your lashes, so that they are lifted right up off your eyes. Falsies and lash extensions that add volume and length can help here too.
Once your lashes are suitably lifted, then you are going to want to add light to the area, and you can do this by adding a small amount of highlighter, or a light shimmer shadow, to the inner corner of your eyes, and the brow bone too. Your eyes will instantly look much bigger if you do both of these things.
Minimal liner
Eyeliner is many a beauty fan’s favorite for creating dramatic eyes, but you know what? If you have hooded eyes then using too much can actually make your eyes look smaller. It’s far better to use eyeliner sparingly and keep it as close to your lash line as you can. A very thin line will work better for you too. Flicking up at the corner is a better way of making yur eyes look bigger when they’re hooded.
Use a base
If you have the creasing problem after a few hours, then you are going to want to make sure that you always use a long-lasting base before you apply other products like eyeshadow. Doing so will help to keep the makeup in place all day long rather than just until lunchtime. Applying a thin coating of powder over the top of my eye makeup will be helpful in this regard too.
Make it matte
Hooded eyes tend to do better with matte makeup than glossy. So, when it comes to eyeshadow, you are going to want to choose good quality matte products that create more drama and depth. If you want to use shimmery, glossy products, then use them only on the center or inner corners where they can add drama and brightness without overwhelming your eyes. Apply them precisely with a thin brush, instead of using broad strokes, for best results, too. But everyone is different, so you might need to experiment to see what works best for you.
As you can see, there are tons of things you can do to ensure that your hooded eyes always look just as good as anyone else’s and you deserve to look and feel your best, so be sure to put these tips and tricks into practice and make them a regular part of your beauty routine!
