Morgan Greer Tarot Review- A Tarot Deck From The Late 70s

Morgan Greer Tarot Packaging and Cards

Are you looking for a great quality, vivid colours and an inviting and welcoming tarot deck? Then read on with my Morgan Greer Tarot review and check out why I love this so much!

The most popular tarot deck is the Original Rider Waite tarot which was published in 1909 and one of the popular decks based on the Rider Waite Tarot is the Morgan Greer Tarot which was published in 1979 by

Given the age of the Morgan Greer tarot, it is still relevant even today which makes this a universal tarot deck, perfect for any type of reading that comes your way. The stark colours and simple illustrations make this a very appealing tarot deck.

The first version I got of this was Morgan Greer Tarot In A Tin and loved it so much that I also wanted the full-sized version too.

So let’s get into the Morgan Greer Tarot review, shall we?

Morgan Greer Tarot Review- A Tarot Deck From The Late 70s

About the tarot deck

The Morgan Greer Tarot was published in 1979 with a very basic keyword style booklet which was common back then. We have all seen how basic the Rider Waite Smith booklets were for the older versions of the tarot deck.

Illustrated by Bill Greer under the direction of Lloyd Morgan.

It was created by combining 2 of the most proficient tarot deck creators Paul Foster Case and Arthur Edward Waite. Paul Foster Case is the lesser of the 2, creating The Tarot which was a popular tarot deck, but not as popular as the Rider Waite Smith style decks.

Includes 78 cards and a guidebook.

About the packaging, quality and booklet

The packaging is very basic, like most of the U.S. Games tarot decks, a thin cardboard box that contains the cards and guidebook. Important aspect in my Morgan Greer Tarot review.

Inside the packaging of the Morgan Greet Tarot, there is a folded up piece of paper, rather than a booklet that gives very basic keywords for each card with a few keywords for the reversed meaning too. It’s not like the later booklets that go more into detail for each card, it’s very simple and needs a lot of interpretation when reading these cards.

There is also some information about how to read the cards, a spread and also some information about the ancient Celtic method of divination along with showing the spread they call the Celtic method of divination, otherwise known as the Celtic Cross spread. However, I would recommend Kindle Unlimted for tarot books if you want more in-depth resources.

I like the quality of the cards, they are thick, well made and very well printed. They shuffle really easily and do not stick together. It’s a typical deck created by U.S. Games and has the same level of quality across all decks I have by them.

Overall, great price and amazing quality with the Morgan Greer Tarot.

Morgan Greer Tarot Cards Major Arcana

Morgan Greer Tarot Review

The Morgan Greer Tarot is a borderless tarot deck in vivid, bright colours which captures the attention of both the reader and person being read for.

I love the back of the cards, it’s a mid-blue tone with white stars all over, some 5, some 6 and some 7 pointed stars.

Looking through the cards, the major arcana has the number and name of the card. The numbers are in roman numerals. I really wanted to point this out in my Morgan Greer Tarot review.

Aces are laid out as Ace of Rods, Ace of Cups, Ace of Swords, Ace of Pentacles. Then Page, Knight, Queen and King of the particular suit.

Rods are the wands, but the rest are Cups, Swords, Pentacles.

Then we have the numbered cards 2 to 10 which are in roman numerals again however they do not say the suit on. But you can depict the suit from the images on the cards.

As I flick through the cards in the Morgan Greer Tarot, I love the stark imagery, colour scheme and simple yet alluring design of the cards.

Each card has symbolism, very similar to the typical Rider Waite Smith tarot but more vibrant with a lot more illustrations throughout the cards.

Super vibrant, beautiful and they are a tarot deck that is spoken about quite often as a choice for any RWS style deck. Especially if you do not want to go with a typical RWS deck, you can opt for one of the many decks like Crystal Visions Tarot which I adore just as much.

When reading, I get a lot of information and the guide book is great for those times I am a little unsure. But you can certainly allow yourself to use your intuition on this one!

Final Thoughts

If you love the aesthetic of the older tarot decks but love vibrancy and power, then the Morgan Greer Tarot is certainly for you! This is why I wanted to do a Morgan Greer Tarot review.

There is also a Morgan Greer Tarot In A Tin which is a smaller version to take with you when you are out and about, or if you have pretty small hands or struggle with standard tarot cards.

If you are going to conduct a love tarot card reading, maybe looking for tarot cards for your psychic text jobs, then I would suggest these cards!
