I admit, I am a hoarder of tarot cards and now have quite a collection that I am ever-expanding. Now one deck I saw on Amazon, I really had to buy and this is the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot.
As always I am going to review them as well as providing my experience with them.
I was fed up having the same theme of tarot cards so decided to try something different that generally has a very different meaning to the cards, rather than your regular ‘Rider Waite Tarot’ decks that are floating about.
Let’s get into the review, shall we?
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot Review
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – About the cards
The Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot deck was created to interpret dreams. Yes, you got that right, It’s a dreamlike world that was created to give you a totally different perspective of the tarot cards than your general consensus.
That is what I really liked about this deck, that it isn’t the ‘norm’ with tarot cards.
You really have to use your imagination with this deck. There is layer upon layer of moods and symbology, including innocence, malevolence, humour and sensuality.
Rather than using logic like you do with some decks that follow the Rider Waite theme, you instead use your imagination and creativity to tell a story. Use your intuition and interpretation for your readings.
This comes with a small book that briefly gives you a small anecdote about the cards, which helps you use your own intuition and read them from your feelings.
Throw your tarot books out of the window with this deck, this is very different and one you need to use your feelings for.
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – Design
I am so in love with this design, it is not what you anticipate with cards.
Now I have to agree, this is a very dream-like deck and something you could only see from a creator such as Tim Burton (Not that he made this deck, but the inspiration is there)
The feeling of these cards is very 1800’s from the artwork. With very old style toys, clothing and even the colour theme. This is something seen with the cards I purchase as this is a theme I love!
Touching upon the colour theme, it is very basic. Washed out almost.
Reminding me of very old style photographs. Not one card has a burst of colour and almost seems, slightly depressing but beautiful at the same time.
I found there is an eerie feel to these cards, from some of the imagery.
Each card has the same design on the back, pale green leaves with red berries. Reminds me of a very old playing card design from 100’s of years ago.
On the Major Arcana, the top has the number in roman numerals, then the same reflected at the bottom.
Minor Arcana has the symbol at the top, such as cups, wands, discs and swords with the number at the bottom from 1-10 then a knights helmet for page, horse for a knight, smaller crown for queen and larger crown for the king.
It will take some getting used to in order to recognise the card you pull out. The artwork doesn’t reflect the same imagery that the Rider Waite based decks too. But it has an unusual feel like the Tarot In Wonderland.
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – Quality
Some of my decks have come in these large boxes, however, this pack of tarot cards literally came in a small box, typical of playing cards.
I actually liked this as sometimes I don’t always want the bulkier packaging as it does take up too much space.
The cards are very well made and don’t stick together, so you can shuffle them with ease.
Thicker than some other decks I have, these are easy to use and a good size, a regular tarot card size.
I feel these will last for a long time and enjoy using them.
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – The Book
Most of the time, you receive a thick book about your cards, but as you are supposed to use your own initiative with these cards, the little booklet is very basic.
It gives you enough information about the cards, each suit and the relevant information required to read them. Literally, just a guide.
The idea of these cards is to use your own imagination, intuition. Reading the cards from deep inside, rather than your preconceptions of tarot cards. Which makes it personally for me, more exciting.
I really like the limited details within the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot and gives it an edge!
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – Readings
Now you have to be mindful when reading these cards, they are nothing like most of the decks you currently own. There is no symbolism like the Rider Waite type decks have so you have to use your own feelings, intuition and imagination.
Some aspects are similar, such as the sword cards. The 10 of swords is a knife cutting into a cake, with the body and head of a girl.
But it gives you such a different perspective which I really enjoy about these cards.
It took me a few weeks to get used to the cards and not to try and use the knowledge I currently have. Taking a totally different perspective into consideration.
I do recommend to ditch your previous knowledge and read the cards for what they are, whilst using the book for a touch of guidance if you get stuck.
Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot – Final Thoughts
Whilst it took a bit of time to get used to reading these cards. I found my readings were eerily accurate and could interpret much more based on the imagery.
I really enjoy how the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot cards look and love how unusual they are, from the cute to the strange.
Some of the images I would love to have blown up and used as pictures on my walls. I think they would make the beautiful decor.
It’s nice to have something different and these cards certainly are! What do you think of the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot review?
