Ever since the launch of the Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette I have been trying so patiently to get one but every time I got round to purchasing it – lucky me! – It had sold out. I was desperate to get this palette and do my own Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review.
Eventually my faves over at Beautylish had it in stock along with some Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks I have been after for a while now. Yes another big haul again and put my liquid lipstick collection from Jeffree Star up to 20!
Anyway – I digress! The most anticipated palette from social media alone recently has been the Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette that took me a good few months to actually get my hand on as it kept selling out. Everyone had this, but I would see it had been restocked and bam, sold out again.
When I got my hands on it, I was super shook and couldn’t wait to rip this baby open. But I had to have patience and firstly take some snaps first.
Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review- The Packaging
Absolute sucker for packing over here and what enthralled me about this palette was the packaging.
Arrival of this beauty was quick – I ripped open the package and it was like the angels were calling me ‘Ahhhhhh’ – Glaring at me is a white cardboard package that reminded me of old school VHS tapes – do you remember the cardboard sleeves? This is exactly like that.
Shiny and white with the red Jeffree Star logo then on the side is Blood Sugar then the back has the ingredient list and details of the company blah blah.
Inside though oh my lord – inside this is a beautiful, PU leather case that looks like an actual briefcase with the clasps on the front.
Blood Sugar emblazoned on the front with the Jeffree Star logo on there with Distribution details and YouTube and Instagram handles on there.
I have to admit it is really hard to get this palette open as it is really stiff and well sealed – this really surprised me as I think I expected it not to be so tight. It opened fine but does take a bit of jiggling to open it.
Once open you are greeted with 18 shades in an array of colours, quite a large mirror and of course the Jeffree Star logos but changed to suit the Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette. More medicinal looking.
Overall I am super impressed with the packaging and the other palettes are just ‘meh’ in comparison.
Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review – The Shade
I had to put ‘The Shade’ instead of the shades just for shits and giggles. Anyway – I will review each shade for you and show my opinions and thoughts for each one.
14 matte shades, 1 metallic and 3 glitter shades.
What I liked was the bright coloured matte shades – I have shimmers, glitters, metallic shades everywhere but one thing I don;t have a lot of is the colourful mattes which are prevalent in this palette.
Glucose
Glucose is a matte white shade – As a fair skinned (Casper) shade myself, I couldn’t really see this shade when first applying and if I actually wanted the white to be seen I was better with a small brush and some setting spray but I use this as my all over base shade which is perfect for my skin tone.
This is a very chalky texture, it was admittedly hard to work with but then all white shades are. I do recommend using a good primer with this shade or a glitter glue if you want pay off.
Sugarcane
Sugarcane is a light mid-warm taupe shade – The perfect starting transition shade – I use this on a lot of my looks as it is such a universal shade and looks great with most shades in this palette.
A more buttery formula than Glucose, this is easy to blend and stays well all day.
Cake Mix
Cake Mix is a soft orange, brown mixed shade – Again another perfect transition shade if you want something more vibrant and warmer than Sugarcane.
Lovely and buttery formula which makes it very easy to blend.
Ouch
Ouch is a warmer, light matte brown shade – I use this to darken up my crease when I do some looks, with sweetner and donor, this creates a gorgeous bronze/gold look.
Another very buttery formula.
Donor
Donor can only be described as as golden bronze metallic shade – I can not tell you just how much I love everything about this shade! It’s a beautiful, bronze likened gold that looks absolutely stunning when applied. Using setting spray gives this even more power to the colour and metallic shine. It’s quite creamy and sits all day long with no movement.
Intravenous
A beautiful dark, red matte – I loved using this to darken the crease and create some depth to my lids with this beautiful shade. So buttery, oh my word how many times do I repeat this? Well, it is true!
Candy Floss
A gorgeous candy pink with a metallic finish – Adorable! So freaking adorable. Creamy and blends so well, this is perfect for a halo look or just all over the lid or lightly to give a flat colour some ‘in your face’. Of course, use with a wet brush for extreme results.
Tongue Pop
A beautiful soft tangerine with a matte finish – This is a beautiful transition shade that blends very well and looks beautiful. You can have a slight amount of colour or build it up for the gorgeous colour.
Sweetener
Gorgeous gold peach shade with a metallic finish – I adore this shade, I wear this over the lid or create a beautiful halo effect. Application without a wet brush gives a beautiful sheen but with a wet brush gives you a powerful, pop of gold with a gorgeous shine.
Cavity
Hot pink with a matte finish – Well what can I say about this shade? It’s pink! Very hot pink! It’s rich, powerful and can be used with a small amount blended out for a beautiful pink or build that baby up for a bright, hot pink colour.
O Positive
Muted grey – brown with a matte finish – I love grey colours, I love a nice grey with a good black or dark blue colour. Not often you get a grey in a palette so this was the perfect transition shade for my darker looks. Blends super well.
Root Canal
Violet with a matte finish – Well, this is a darker violet shade and again can be blended for a little colour or can be applied heavily for that pop! Goes with an array of other colours and can make some beautiful looks with this. Blends like a dream.
Prick
Candy apple in a matte formula – This comes off initially quite dusky but you can build it up to be bright. This is a colour that can be used muted or applied heavier for a bright colour. I have used this all over my lid with a halo look, or just to create beautiful blended looks. Perfect formula yet again.
Cherry Soda
True red with a matte finish – In the pan this looks darker but when applying it really is a true red. Again can be used muted or built up for a rich, beautiful red. Another great addition to the palette.
Fresh Meat
Dark Mulberry in a matte finish – Another gorgeous deep, dark beautiful shade that can be used muted or built up for a dark eye look. I use this in my crease a lot but also all over my lid when I am rocking a darker, edgier look. Wonderful blending again.
Blood Sugar
Rusty Red with metallic finish – When going for a darker look and I want something metallic on my lid, I use this all over my lid as it’s such a gorgeous colour. It’s dark and attracts attention. The formula is amazing, can be used with a dry bush for colour or wet brush for perfect pay off.
Extraction
Plum burgundy with a matte finish – Another gorgeous darker colour that I love to use in my crease, make a smoky eye or all over my lid for my darker looks. Again blends so well.
Coma
Eggplant with a matte finish – Again another must have dark shade. This is super blendable, no patches and can use in the crease to darken a look or all over the lid for a deep, beautiful look.
Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review – The Formula
Every single matte shade apart from Glucose is such a buttery, easy to blend formula. I found there was no patchiness and even the brighter colours applied so well.
I found with the matte shades that I could use them wet too if I wanted a pop of colour instead of a wash.
These shadows can be built up as required or just a little pop of colour as required.
Blending is easy with them all and can keep layering for that more intense, bold colour.
With the deeper shades, I found there was no patches and it blended like a dream. I used these shades either in my crease, to deepen a look and even on my lid.
Now the more muted shades were perfect for transition, giving a perfect base for blending other colours together. I tried them all with so many looks and they were all perfect. So buttery and again blended like a dream
The bright colours of course were stunning! I could use them muted with a small amount as they blended out so well or they could be layered into bright pops of colour.
Metallic shades apply amazing well even with a dry bush but with any palette, a wet brush gives you the ultimate pay off!
All in all, they are easy to apply, look amazing on the eye and last all day.
Not one had fall out everywhere which I was so happy about, it does drive me mad when you dip in and have to keep blowing on your palette. Or even trying to use up the fall out.

Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review – Application And Wear
Every shade was so easy to work with, from the mattes to the shimmer/metallic shades.
Apart from Glucose, which we all know white shades are the hardest to formulate but this is the best I have used. It is chalky but with a wet brush they apply so well.
Application of the metallic shades is something else. They are so creamy, so soft and applies so well. Use glitter glue, primers or wet brushes if you want that ultimate pay off.
I even used Candy Floss as a highlight, I was that obsessed. Can we see this as a highlight please?
Jeffree Star Blood Sugar Palette Review – Final Thoughts
There is an awful lot of matte shades but these are matte shades I don’t have in other palettes.
There is no law that you can’t use other palettes for shimmer or metallic shades.
Admittedly I do use this with other palettes as the colours are stunning and I have other palettes that compliment this so much.
