After a pretty rough year, we are looking forward to ringing in the New Year especially with our beauty trends for 2021. Never before has the whole world wanted to fresh start more. Although 2020 was a roller coaster, we did learn a thing or two. Firstly, we put our health as a priority. Secondly, we were forced to do almost everything from home. We worked from home. Teachers instructed from home while students learned from home. Many of us baked banana bread, cookies, and sourdough loaves. And, a lot of us became at-home hairstylists, colorists, and nail technicians. The DIY beauty regime was in full swing. Now, that we are about to countdown the most anticipated New Year, what will be the top beauty trends in 2021. Below are the predicted beauty trends for 2021.
Luxury Hygiene Products
After a year of using hand-sanitizers, liquid soaps, and sanitizing wipes, our hands have never been cleaner. However, with all the usage, you may have noticed that your skin doesn’t agree with all the dryness. Perhaps you don’t like the scent of your hygiene products. In 2021, we will see luxury skincare lines adding hygiene products such as scented and moisturizing hand sanitizers and soaps. After the harshness of 2020 hygiene products, we could all use a little more pampering while keeping safe and keeping your skin silky soft.
2020 was the year of sweatpants and no make-up. Thus, 2021 is taking it to the next level, skinimalism. As we gradually go back to the office and/or school, the no-makeup look is back. This doesn’t mean that the trend is to use no makeup. In 2021, the more natural look in makeup products is in. A natural glow will become wildly popular. Indulging in luxury soaps and quality care products will be a big trend throughout this period.

After a year of so many, DIY projects as well as growing trends in holistic self-care. Many will choose to design their own skincare products in 2021. If you are interested in taking this route, many have found success at the School of Natural Skincare. Maybe you have a killer recipe for DIY scrub for shaving your legs and/or a go-to, all-natural moisturizer. You could be the next Clinique or Lancome.
Embracing Natural Hair
Low to no maintenance hair is back. Similar to the 1960s, we are embracing natural hairstyles. No longer are we straightening curly hair. Nor are we looking to perm to change our naturally stick-straight hair. Natural looks are in 2021. As we embrace the natural world around us, we have also shifted to embrace our natural DNA influence on our hairstyles.
No more hairdryers, curling irons, and/or flatirons. The products that will be successful are leave-in conditioners, lightweight sprays, and gels, as well as the gamut of hair ties: ponytail holders, bandanas, barrettes, and clips.
2021 is the year of keeping everything safe with elevated luxury hygiene products. But also, it is the year of trending towards the natural look, minimal makeup, and even DIY skincare. Here’s to a beautiful 2021! Cheers!
