Arin Murphy-Hiscock The Green Witch Book Review

The Green Witch Book by Arin Murphy-Hiscock with flowers, crystals and peacock feather around the book

Many years ago I had a book called the ‘The Way Of The Green Witch‘ by Arin Murphy-Hiscock and I absolutely loved it. However I am unable to get my hands on a new copy as it appears it is no longer in circulation. So I instead purchased Arin Murphy-Hiscock The Green Witch as a replacement.

I purchased this in the hardback cover because I thought it would last a lot longer than a paper cover.

In fact, I bought all 3 books that go together, The House Witch and The Witches Book Of Self Care which I am reviewing separately. This compliments The Green Witch.

I have quite a few things to touch upon with this book so will go through each part in detail. This will help anyone understand what the book is about and of course, give my honest thoughts on it.

Arin Murphy-Hiscock The Green Witch – The Review

About the book

This is more of a guidance book that helps you along your path. Providing a brief explanation of what Arin’s perception of a Green Witch is, as well as giving you some great tips.

From a brief introduction, it delves into herbs, flowers, crystals and how to find balance with life.

The information provided does not go too deep, so it gives you an overall feel of specific things. However, to delve further, you would need several books for this as it is rather compressed.

Simply put, it is a short guide, rather than something more in depth. Some may love this, some may hate this.

Due to the size, it is great to carry around if you wanted a quick read, catch up on something quickly or just keep for when required.

The books are pretty much the same for The House Witch and The Witches Book Of Self Care.

I think this would be good for anyone who is new or even an old hat with witchcraft as there is something there for everyone.

It’s quite a handy go-to book as it has quite a bit of information on the fundamentals of the witchcraft walk of life.

You can be at any stage and still enjoy The Green Witch as there is something for everyone in here.

The book comes in both hardcover and paperback. I have the hardback and it has a textured feel to the book which I really enjoy.

Quality and Price

I purchased the hardback version which cost me around £10, however, I have seen this sold in the works for around £3 in the UK. You could possibly pick this up fairly cheap.

The paperback version is simply that, just a paperback book. However, the hardback is simply amazing.

There is a textured feel to the book which gives it this feel of a well made, whereas the paperback version is just simply, a paperback version that you can pick up for a relatively low price.

I’ve noticed that the pages are really good quality, they are not the bright white, smooth type of page, rather they have a feel of parchment paper.

Size-wise, there is no difference and the paperback version is lighter.

With the hardcover, it has a luxurious, old fashioned textured feel to the book, which is the version I have. I did pay more for this version, but I have listed both versions at the bottom so you can see them both.

The text on the front of the hardcover version is metallic light green.

I think it is really good quality overall and the paper and hardcover are really good quality also.

If you were to buy a version, I would pay a little more and get the hardcover version.

My Thoughts Of The Book

I found this is a very condensed book that gives you a lot of information in a small book so if you wanted to elaboarate further on something, you wouls=d need to do your own research.

It’s simply a guide book and the perfect book to refer to things quickly. But also has a lot of advice and information throughout that is super helpful.

Now, I really enjoyed the information contained within this book. Although I have a lot of knowledge about herbs and essential oils for example, it was nice to see them used in both a holistic and magickal way.

I have to say, The Green Witch is giving you key information as a starter. Or even someone on the path for many years.

It’s written really well and you can enjoy reading this. Even if you are very knowledgeable, it is still a really good read.

There are recipes contained within this book, which I have made a note of and even tried a few. They are fantastic and the follow on books The House Witch and The Witch’s Book Of Self Care does offer even more.

You can expect to find information on: The moon, essential oils, herbs, sabbats, recipes, meditation and much more!

I also enjoyed the Bibliography at the end as I went on to purchase more books through this.

Final Thoughts

I’d recommend The Green Witch to everyone of every path as it is really insightful and gives you a lot of knowledge in one easy to use book.

It’s written really well and easy to understand, regardless of knowledge.

If you want something new, then this is really worth considering.
